Author: Holly Smale
Genre: UKYA, Contemporary, Humour
Blurb: Harriet Manners knows almost every fact there is.
- Modelling isn't a sure-fire route to popularity. Neither is making endless lists.
- The people you love don't expect you to transform into someone else.
- Statistically you are more likely to not meet your Australian ex-boyfriend in Australia than bump into him there
So on the trip of a lifetime Down Under, Harriet's to-do lists are gone and it's Nat's time to shine! Yet with nearly-not-quite-boyfriend Jasper back home, Harriet is completely unprepared to see supermodel ex Nick. Is the fashion world about to turn ugly for GEEK GIRL?
It's time for Harriet to face the future.
Time to work out where her heart lies.
To learn how to let go...
I cannot believe it's actually over. Okay, maybe I can. But still.
Team JINTH is now Team JRNTH ever since India left the friendship group and Rin came to stay in England.
As Harriet heads for her next fashion adventure in Australia, she's still annoying but in a very adorkable way.
I wonder if the aussie slang Harriet got from her book was legit xD
"Reckon!" Nat bellows, black hair streaming behind her.
"Deffo!" I roar.
Harriet inevitably bumps into Nick and along the way are many surprises, tears and laughter.
And that plot twist! That plot twist.
The way Holly Smale wrapped up the entire book in such a perfectly bittersweet way proves that I made no mistake in picking up this series (even though I read the second book first. Still have no regrets about that).
Even if for some strange reason, Holly Smale is no longer one of my favourite authors, Geek Girl will always have a special place in my heart. No matter how hard I try to search, no-one can replicate the quirky writing style of Geek Girl or the eccentric maverick Harriet Manners.
And I appreciate that.
Recommendation: Lovers of contemporary or people who want to give contemporary a try (but read the other five books first, unless you love spoilers).

"G'day, Sydney!" My best friend yells jubilantly at the sunlit streets. "Aren't you a little ripper?""Strewth," I shout, laughing. "Sydney, you are a bonzer."

"I want to go back to being friends," I say quietly. "I'm sorry, Jasper, but this isn't going to work. And if we try, we're going to lose our friendship too. I don't want that to happen."
FUUUDGE BUT YESSS!
I had a feeling that they didn't really match but dang. And Jasper just agreed. Wow. The most friendly break up ever.
